Two Twisters Earn All-America Honors
January 2006
Congratulations to Greensboro Twisters 88 Green teammates, Maria Lubrano and Katherine Lutz for being selected to the 2005 NCSAA/adidas Girls Youth All-America Team. It is rare that two players from the same club, in the same year would earn this prestigious honor.......much less from the same team!
Maria and Katie were honored at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, January 21, 2006 at the All-America Luncheon.

State Cup Final Four Results
November 2005
The USYS North Carolina State Cup has been the 90 Twisters Green's event since their U11 year. On November 13th, at Bryan Park, the 90 Green won the 2005 USYS State Cup for the fourth time in their five years together. They duplicated this past May's U14 State Cup Final by again defeating a strong OCSA Coastal Crew team, 3-0. By doing so, they will represent GYS and North Carolina at the Region III Championships in Little Rock, AR, June 29 - July 5.
The 88 Twisters Green lost to CASL Spartan Elite in the U17 Final. They will have to wait until June to determine their fate in attending the Southern Regionals after the Georgia State Cup is complete. Depending on who the Georgia winner is, and by virtue of their second-place finish in their Region III Premier League Division, the 88 Green can still qualify for Regionals in the Region III Premier League slot.
The USYS President's Cup has been taken by storm once again, as the 88 Twisters Gold rebounded from a regular season defeat to knock off the Sandhills Strikers, 3-0. The 88 Gold will represent GYS and North Carolina at the Region III President's Cup in either Huntsville, AL or Decatur, GA, June 9 - 11. Age divisions at each site, to be determined.
The U18 Greensboro Anacondas repeat! The NCYSA Challenge Cup was kind again to the Anacondas, as they won their second straight Challenge Cup Championship. They avenged a 2-0 prelims weekend loss to the Greensboro United by advancing 1-0 to reach the Finals. In an exciting Final, they defeated URYS United on PK's.
The U15 Greensboro United lost in the Semifinals to CASL Impact on PK's.
The U18 Greensboro United lost in the Semifinals to the eventual champs, the Anacondas.
Congratulations to all our GYS teams during their 2005 State Cup runs!!!
