Dyna-Mites: This coed introductory program is for 3-year-old soccer players who will be 4 years of age by July 31, 2007. The registration fee includes a t-shirt and 6 weeks of instruction. You have a choice of two Sunday time slots: 3:00-3:45 or 4:00-4:45pm. The sessions include stretching and warm-up drills, a weekly skill, water breaks and 3 vs. 3 games. Parents are encouraged to assist as Group Counselors - you can circle your area of interest on the front page. Birth Certificates are required for all participants at the time of registration.

Recreation: Recreational Soccer does not require trying out, but merely signing up. Every player who signs up within the registration period (May 1-June 15) is guaranteed a spot on a team. Late registrants are NOT guaranteed placement on a team. If this is a player's first time with GYS, a copy of their birth certificate (or passport) must accompany the registration form along with full payment. In an effort to open soccer to all those interested, GYS offers a limited number of registration scholarships for those in need of financial assistance. Please contact the office for details. Teams are same sex, single year.

Select: The GYS Select Program is broken into three highly coordinated Program Groups, U10-U12, U13-U14, U15-U18. There are two levels of play offered. They are challenge and classic.

Challenge Program

The GYS Challenge Soccer Program is a participation league designed in a club-like atmosphere and offering an increased level of competition, with ongoing commitment and enjoyment, coupled with player development. The goal of GYS Challenge Soccer is to provide an environment in which the level of competition, commitment, and player development falls somewhere between that of the Recreation and Classic Programs. The Boys and Girls Challenge Divisions of GYS are under the direction of the Director of Coaching for Boys Select and the Director of Coaching for Girls Select. GYS operates a Challenge League for the U10-U18 divisions. U10 divisions will play 6v6, U11 and U12 play 8v8, and U13 and older play 11v11. Teams are formed annually based on open tryouts in the spring.

Classic Program

The Greensboro Soccer Club and Greensboro Twisters generally offer two organized levels of Classic Soccer: Green and Gold Teams (Boys) Green and White Teams (Girls). In a specific age group, a third team may be added if the quality and numbers at tryouts warrant.

Premier Teams (Green)

The Green teams are made up of the most developed players selected from the tryout process. U14-U18 teams typically represent our program in the Region III Premier League and/or the NCYSA Premier Division, playing against the top clubs within the state and region. U12-U13 teams play First Division in NCYSA, also playing against the top clubs within the state and region The Green squads are also our most traveled teams. They represent GYS in many of the top tournaments around the region and country each year. Annually the GSC and Twisters teams are showcased in events such as the Raleigh Shootout, adidas Labor Day Shootout, WAGS, Disney Soccer Showcase, Orange Classic, Tampa Bay Sun Bowl, Jefferson Cup, Score at the Shore, Triangle FC Friendlies, plus a range of other top level showcase events.

Developmental Teams (Gold/White)

The second, and more developmental level is our Gold/White team program. These teams are made up of the players that our coaching staff feel are one step away from being one of the top premier players in an age group. The Gold/White team system provides these players with a chance to continue to develop, play a more significant role, and compete against other North Carolina club's top level teams, in order to enhance their skill and potential. Each Gold/White team player is subject to ongoing evaluation and has the chance to be pulled into the Green team program, to be a tournament guest player,  to transfer during a season, or to be placed at the next tryout. Our developmental teams also participate in NCYSA league play. Most Gold/White teams play in either the First or Second Division, where travel is somewhat limited. These teams participate in many events that adhere to the quality and level in which the Coaching Directors feel are appropriate to their success and full development as players. This includes events in Northern Virginia, Greensboro, Virginia Beach, Roanoke, and other areas offering a good level of soccer for our players and our teams' development.
